The Westview Golf Club By-Laws

Article I - NAME
This association shall be known as the The Westview Golf Club (the "Club").

Article II - PURPOSE
To foster and promote good fellowship among the membership and perpetuate the game of golf.
To promote conformance to the USGA Rules of Golf.
To maintain a uniform system of handicapping as set forth in the USGA Handicap System and issue USGA Handicap Indexes. To provide an authoritative body to govern and conduct Club tournaments.

Article III - MEMBERSHIP
The Club shall have an unlimited number of memberships.
Only golfers with a reasonable and regular opportunity to play golf with fellow members and who can personally return scores for posting may be members and receive USGA Handicap Indexes from the Club. The annual membership fee is $60 for the year 2005, and is to be set by the board of directors for each subsequent year. Membership in the Club shall be for a calendar year only. The board of directors, by a unanimous vote, may confer an honorary lifetime membership for contributions to the Club or the game of golf. In the event that any member of the Club shall commit any act that reflects discredit or disrepute on the Club or shall refuse or neglect to comply with the by-laws and rules of the Club, such member shall be subject to suspension or expulsion from the Club by a majority vote of the board of directors.

Article IV - TOURNAMENTS
Tournament play shall be in accordance with rules set by the USGA and the Club’s tournament and or rules chairmen.
The handicap chairman, with the consent of the tournament chairman, can adjust a member’s handicap after one-day play of a two-day tournament. A Club member can have their tournament handicaps set prior to any tournament by the handicap chairman. That handicap can be lower or higher than the Member's current USGA handicap. Slow play in tournaments will not be tolerated. Slow play may be subject to penalty, under rules set by the USGA or the Club’s tournament chairman. Members are encouraged to play provisional balls after striking balls into native grass and trees. All tournament entry forms must be received by the entry deadline.

Article V - OFFICERS
There shall be a president, whose duties include organizing and presiding at the annual general membership meeting and meetings of the board of directors.
There shall be a secretary, whose duties include performing the president’s duties in the absence of the president and overseeing the organization and operation of all tournaments. There shall be a treasurer, whose duties include managing the Club’s finances, and making a financial report at the annual general membership meeting.
There shall be a secretary, whose duties include recording the annual general membership meeting and meetings of the board of directors. A single officer may hold more than one office in the Club.

Article VI - ELECTION OF OFFICERS
Officers shall be chosen by the Board of Directors.

Article VII - BOARD OF DIRECTORS
A quorum for any board of directors meeting shall be constituted by at least 60% of officers being present. Quorums are required at all board of director meetings for any Club business to be transacted.
The board of directors can adopt new rules to implement the By Laws. Any board member can be removed by a 66% vote for removal of all current board members. A special meeting of the board can be called for such vote.
Meetings of the board shall be at the call of the president or majority of the board. Any new rule to implement the By Laws must be approved by a majority vote of the board.

Article VIII - ANNUAL GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING
Members will be informed of the date of the annual general membership meeting of the Club. In general it will be held in late winter to early spring.

Article IX - BY LAWS
These By Laws are effective immediately.
The By Laws are subject to amendment.
Any amendments to the By Laws must be approved by a majority of the Board of Directors.
